The Indiana Food Stamp program is a program that is designed to help low income individuals purchase food for themselves and there families, in order to stay healthy.
How to Qualify
In order to qualify for Indiana Food Stamps you must meet certain criteria regarding your financial , you must not make more than the set amounts for the program, these limits are different and depend on how many dependants you have living with you.
Your assets also have to be below a certain level.
Filling an Application
Once you believe you qualify you should submit and application. The easiest way to get an application is to download the application from the Division of Family Resources Office
Once you have downloaded and filled the application you may return it to your local DFR office you may mail it or fax it as well.
Next step
Within a couple of weeks you should receive a letter in the mail with a response. In this letter you will be informed by a caseworker with more documents are proof is needed in order to approve your case. Sometimes these items include bank statements, rent receipts and proof from a doctor of pregnancy if you are claiming to be pregnant. Once you’ve submitted all the required information within a couple weeks you will get a notice stating the action of your case if it has been approved.
When Approved
Once you get approved you will get a plastic card in the mail that is like a credit card you will have to activate it and then you will be able to make your food purchases were ever Indiana food stamps are accepted.
